Out of Surgery - Women's Ministry Update

Lenya is out of surgery; the mass was a malignant stage 1 cancer. The great news is that it was fully contained and they were able to remove all of it.

Once her body recovers from the surgery, she will have to have some chemotherapy treatments to make sure it is all gone. The surgeon and oncologist are very optimistic, as is Skip, and the prognosis is very hopeful.

She is resting and knows that God is still in control. Thank you all for your prayers and thoughts; please continue to pray for her and her family.

You are welcome to send cards to:

Also, in lieu of flowers, Lenya has requested donations for Women's Ministry Bible study scholarships. To make a donation, please contact the Women's Ministry office at (505)338-3654.

  3. Hi from Florida Lenya. I thank the Lord for the very positive, and loved filled impact you, Skip and Nate have on an ever watching society.

I'm so glad for you that you are surrounded by such a wonderful support network, and that you all fully embrace the power provided to us through the technologies that unite us brothers and sisters in Christ, through the e-world.

While I myself am 1800 miles away, being able to stay linked to Calvary Abq., (I'm from Calvary de Santa Fe from days of old), through UStream, blogs, Twitter, Facebook and CD's sent to me, makes it feel like we're active and real in each other's life.

I praise God for Skip's medical training so that he can better assist you in your recovery, and so that you too will have a better understanding of what all you face.

I praise God even more though that you all surrender daily to the Great Physician, and are at rest in being in His hands, no matter what, come what may.

My thoughts and prayers are with you all continually. Be blessed and sleep well,

    Most sincerely,
    Sandy Koster

We are thrilled for you and Skip that the surgery is now behind you and the news is positive, as are both of you. "My health may fail, and my spirit grow weak, but God is with me, He is the strength of my heart, He is mine forever." Ps. 73:26...Sharing in His love, Chris & Rebecca Thomas

  5. Lenya, I am so thrilled that your surgery was successful and the Dr's feel confident that this will soon be behind you and your family. God has used you in wonderful ways to touch the lives of so many people and I just know He has more in His plans for you. God bless you and I pray that the remainder of your treatment is quick, well tolerated, highly successful and most importantly, guided by His wisdom, grace and perfect care.
    In His love,
    Vanessa Ownbey

  6. Dear Lenya and family,

I am an Operating Room nurse at Presbyterian Downtown. I just now found out about your surgery and prognosis.

I want to let you know that I have worked closely with Dr. Ampuero in the past (and still do). He is a wonderful surgeon and physician.

We will be praying for you and your recovery, as well as for guidance for Dr. Ampuero and all involved in your care. You are wonderful people!

May God bless you and heal you! We love you!

    In His Hands,
    Jaren Gravagne

  7. It is truly an honor to know and work with you Lenya! Your selflessness to have the congregation sponsor a woman to the study, instead of flowers is beautiful!!
I know God will use that act of kindness to further His kingdom!!
We are still praying and pleading to our God on your behalf!!
